Bleeker Interview
Earlier this month, Kayla spent some time with Canadian alt-rock band Bleeker! Talking about song inspiration, their new album, and more! You can check out what the band's vocalist Taylor Perkins had to say below! She also took some photos at their Philadelphia date, the link to the gallery can be found after the interview!
Special shout out to the guys in Bleeker for always taking the time to work with us!
Salazen Media: Now that the full length is out, what's it like playing more songs off of Erase You? Taylor Perkins: It keeps it interesting and we can bring a different life to some of the songs off Erase You! Some songs have piano etc that we don't have in our live show so its fun to figure out how to pull them off. Some are a success... Some still a work in progress. SM: For this round of shows you're co/headlining. How has that been going so far? TP: Great! Headlining is so much different than say, opening up for a bigger band. The built in audience isn't there and you're relying on yourself. You can really tell what cities we have and haven't been to by the turnout haha. But it's really fun to see the people we met last summer touring with Sublime etc. Hopefully we can keep doing this and build those audiences!

SM: Your music video for "Where's Your Money?" Just came out, who was behind the concept for the video, and in general what was it like to film it? TP: It was two very long days of filming but it was a blast. The crew and director were so awesome and everyone was in good spirits the whole time. There were a few different locations. One was the freezing streets of Montreal at 6am. A guy named Ryan from our record label came up with the concept. He is a clever, funny dude so we trusted his judgement and we are happy we did!
SM: So you've played some festivals recently and you've been announced for a few coming up, what's the biggest difference in preparing/playing something like that vs. a smaller venue show? TP: Festivals are my personal favorite. Outdoors, with other bands to watch. I think it's the same preparation. We just go out and do what we always do. Only the crowd size and venue change. If anything, the big festival shows are less preparation because they are "throw and go" meaning no sound checks. Just chuck your gear on and play! SM: Have any of your songs come to be in a "non conventional" way? Like - you had a dream about it, came to you after you got in an argument or something "strange" like that? TP: Most of the songs I come up with just come to me in the shower haha it's a melody that's pops up out of nowhere and that's it... That's the hook. I never have my lyrics or song names prepared that I want to write about.. it just happens
