New Music: Underdog Champs
On Friday, Virginia pop-punk band Underdog Champs released their newest EP, Skeletons in Daylight and it is some of the most powerful music they’ve released so far.
Songs like "Safe in the Dark" and "When the World Ends" are so strong and the instrumentals support the lyrics so well, making the songs extremely well rounded. They are the kind of songs that sound like summer, and the EP as a whole reminds me of something that would be great for road trip listening.
Then, there are songs like "Here For You" and "Coming Clean" that are a bit more stripped down and raw. They show very strong emotion and really make you feel like the writing came from the heart of the band. With lines like “I’ll stay close if you stay true,” the lyrics can be interpreted to whatever situation you may be in or have been in previously, and I think that is a great attribute for music to have. It allows everyone to interpret the song how they want to, which is what makes the music so powerful.
Be sure to check this EP out on Spotify and iTunes and let the guys know what you think! I highly recommend "Safe in the Dark", "Hear Me Out" and "Walls" if you’re looking for some tracks to start with!
