Punk Goes Pop Favorites

Everyone loves a good cover, it's always fun to see an artist turn a song from a different genre into something all their own, and completely different. Carmyn Manning wanted to share their favorite Punk Goes Pop renditions! Check them out below!

1) Punk Goes Pop Vol. 6 - PVRIS "Chandelier" (Originally performed by Sia)

PVRIS gave Sia’s Chandelier a new beat with a mix of hip-hop, pop and electronic sounds under lead singer’s Lynn Gunn’s juxtaposing vocals. Her voice ranges from soft and melodic to raspy tones. Lynn’s high notes in the background of the song create a hollow, ghost sound that are featured frequently in PVRIS’ songs. If you liked this cover by the band listen to: My House by PVRIS

2) Punk Goes Pop Vol. 6 - Slaves "Sweater Weather" (Originally performed by The Neighborhood)

Slaves turned The Neighborhood’s Sweater Weather into a powerful R&B rock anthem. The cover starts off as a smooth, indie and R&B inspired ballad and swiftly transitions into rock with the introduction of a heavy screeching guitar. Lead singer, Johnny Craig’s vocals flow throughout the song effortlessly and resemble the original singer of Sweater Weather, Jessie Rutherford but with a twist. Johnny included riffs, overlapping backing vocals, and the full band comes in for echoic gang vocals that pull the cover together. If you liked this cover by the band listen to: Starving For FRIENDS ft. Vic Fuentes by Slaves

3) Punk Goes Pop Vol. 4 - Sleeping With Sirens “Fuck You” (Originally performed by CeeLo Green)

Sleeping With Siren’s cover of Fuck You reminds me of a lighter and pop version of the band’s song If You Can't Hang. Drummer, Gabe Barham kicks off the song with an energic beat and Lead singer, Kellin Quinn shows off his vocal range featuring his high notes in the chorus. Overall, Sleeping With Sirens makes this song their own with a catchy lead up to a heavy breakdown. If you liked this cover by the band listen to: The Bomb Dot Com V2 by Sleeping With Sirens
