Waterparks release debut album!
Houston trio Waterparks released their debut full-length album Double Dare yesterday on iTunes and today officially. This album is a mix of different genres, waterparks cannot be confined to one genre but this is something that makes them stand out. The album has 13 tracks including previously released singles "Stupid for You", "Hawaii (Stay Awake)" and "Royal". All of the songs on the album are catchy but are also incredible lyrically. Singer, Awsten Knight as previously stated that this album is the most open and honest that he's ever been. The first official Waterparks acoustic ballad is the track "21 Questions" and seems to be the most personal track on the album. This album is a huge step up from previous releases Cluster, Black light, and Airplane Conversations. Fans that are familiar with the band can find references to previous releases such as "my friends and I are mad, we're mad all the time" in the track "Little Violence" and "you're yellow, I'm natural blue" in "Stupid for You" which references the track "I'm A Natural Blue" from the EP Black Light and the fact that Awsten's girlfriend is the Yellow power ranger. The tracks "Little Violence", "Made in America", and "Plum Island" are on the heavier, punk side, much different from Cluster, but in the greatest way. It gets a little softer, raw and romantic in tracks like "Powerless" and "Take Her to the Moon". Conclusion, every song on this album is well written, catchy and fun. Fans can see Waterparks perform a few songs off the album this fall on the End the Madness Tour with Sleeping With Sirens which kicked off in Chicago yesterday.
